Insight ADVANCEfeedback® was given a 5 apple/outstanding rating by Ed Tech Round Up.
“Today’s review focuses on ADVANCEfeedback from the educational technology and consulting company. Insight Education Group. ADVANCEfeedback is a cloud-based platform that allows for teachers to easily upload videos of themselves teaching for reflection, feedback, sharing, or for informal and formal evaluation purposes.”
The service is designed to be a central hub for all observation-related resources, and it’s incredibly well-designed and easy to use, even for those who may not be as comfortable with technology. ADVANCEfeedback™ has a lot of potential for improving observation and reflection processes, so let’s take a look!
To begin, Insight Education Group has been around since 2000 and as a company, their focus has been on supporting teachers and school leaders with their professional development. About 18 months ago, the team launched their first version of ADVANCEfeedback™ in order to provide a resource that allowed schools and teachers to better use the power of video in their observations and reflections. Based on the feedback from this initial launch, the team has made some great revisions and updates and just released version 2.0.
Before jumping fully into the review, to add some context to the idea of using videos for observation purposes, Harvard’s Center for Education Policy Research just released a toolkit and report that provides practical advice and guidance to school leaders interested in getting started with video observation for teacher professional development and evaluation. The report also happens to mention ADVANCEfeedback™ as being one possible resource for implementing video observations!
So with that in mind, let’s dig into the service. When teachers first login, they’ll be presented with their dashboard. From here, they can check for any feedback that has been left on any videos they’ve uploaded, or upload a new video for reflection or review.
