Renew Your License
Iowa license renewal requirements vary by license type:
- Standard license – 6 credits required; 1 IPDP plan is worth 3 credits
- Master educator license – 4 credits required; 1 IPDP plan is 2 credits
- Professional administrator license – 4 credits required; 1 IPDP plan is 2 credits
- Professional service license – 4 credits required; 1 IPDP plan is 2 renewal credits
Credit Conversion

Each Teaching Channel with Learners Edge 3-credit course requires approximately 45 hours for course completion.

Each renewal request must be accompanied by a certificate verifying the completion of the child and dependent adult abuse mandatory reporter training.
As of July 1, 2021, IPDP Plans can be used for half of the renewal credits required. Holders of a standard, master, professional administrator, or professional service license may use one Iowa Individual Professional Development Plan (annual goal setting) for up to 1/2 of the required renewal credits for their license type.
