Goals and Objectives of this Course:
- Use prompts about teaching and supporting immigrant and refugee students and families to describe assumptions and insights of practitioners, researchers and self, including how the information relates to professional education practice and growth.
- Determine how to innovate learning through Designated and Integrated English Language Development.
- Collaborate with newcomer families to develop a guide that includes local community resources.
- Create and implement a Newcomer Kit to support newcomer students’ first introduction to school.
- Challenge the status quo related to newcomer students with learning disabilities by investigating school processes and creating accommodations for newcomer students with special needs.
