- Research Courses: Browse Teaching Channel’s 18 micro- courses designed to provide practical strategies, research-based practices, and classroom-ready tools.
- Self-Paced & Flexible: You’ll have until the end of the school year to select and complete five courses at a pace that works for your schedule.
- Relevant & Practical: Courses are created by educators for educators, with strategies you can apply immediately in your classroom. Complete the reflection form for each course and submit it demonstrating how you will be implementing what you learn.
How it Works:
- Course Selection: Browse the 18-course New Teacher Series to select your 5 professional development courses that you will focus on this year.
- Enroll: Please complete the form with your course selections
- Confirmation: After submission of the form, an email will be sent in 1-2 business days to support you in finalizing the enrollment.
- Access to Course: You have until the end of the school year to complete your 5 courses.
- Complete Coursework: Engage in the course materials, complete reflection prompts, take notes, and participate in any activities.
- Turn in Reflection Form after each of your five courses. Educators are expected to submit a brief summary reflecting on key learnings, practical insights, and strategies. Each summary should also describe how the educator plans to apply the knowledge and skills gained in their own classroom practice.

This course is designed to encourage new educators to embody professionalism, develop a strong teacher identity, and define the core motivation behind their teaching practice. Teachers will reflect on their identity and purpose, analyze real-world examples, and create action plans. This process demonstrates how self-awareness and professional conduct lead to impactful student success and personal growth. (3 Hours)

This course shares knowledge and strategies to create engaging and adaptive classroom environments. By focusing on classroom design, representation, and sensory-friendly spaces, educators will learn ways to meet the diverse needs of all students while building a sense of belonging. Through research, reflection, and practical application, new teachers will develop actionable plans to enhance classroom spaces that support all learners. (3 Hours)

This course for new teachers provides strategies to build trust, set high expectations, and create a safe and joyful learning environment. New teachers will explore ways to strengthen the classroom community, recognize and celebrate student identities, and build a classroom of belonging. (3 Hours)

This course explores the critical role of communication in teaching, focusing on effective strategies for communicating with students, colleagues, and ways to build strong partnerships with families. Educators will analyze practical examples of classroom and professional interactions, and explore ideas for improving clarity, empathy, and consistency in your communication. You’ll leave this course empowered to create supportive learning environments through intentional, relationship-centered communication. (3 Hours)

As a new teacher, you will learn the knowledge and strategies necessary to build strong, meaningful relationships with your students and colleagues. You will explore essential topics like unconditional positive regard, the 2×10 strategy, and techniques for creating connections with students. By the end of the course, you will have strategies to make relationship-building a priority in your teaching. (3 Hours)

This course examines behavior management strategies for educators. New teachers will explore the ABC (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence) Model to understand student behaviors, learn about best practices, and investigate specialized strategies for managing crisis behaviors to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. Multilingual learners (MLs) bring fresh perspectives and knowledge to our classrooms and school communities. New teachers will learn about the various categories of neurodiversity, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities.
