South Portland School Department is deeply committed to fostering continuous professional growth for its teachers. Through this partnership, educators can access graduate-level courses from Teaching Channel, funded by the district*, and apply them toward salary advancement.
Our self-paced, graduate-level courses are designed with flexibility in mind, allowing teachers to grow at their own pace while gaining practical, classroom-ready strategies that enhance both teaching and learning.

*Please refer to your bargaining agreement for number of credits to be funded by the district.

- Course Funding: South Portland School Department will cover the cost of eligible courses.
- Graduate Credit Options: 1-, 2-, and 3-credit Teaching Channel courses qualify for salary advancement.
- Pre-Approval Required: Teachers must submit a pre-approval form to confirm course eligibility before registering.
- Eligible Course Types: Graduate-level Continuing Education courses (OL).
- Not Eligible: FLEX and Fast Track courses are not approved for credit.
How it Works:
- Browse Teaching Channel Graduate-level courses to decide on the courses that work best for you.
- Coursework Request: Complete the coursework request in MobileMind, linked here.
Teachers must receive Superintendent approval for course enrollment to be eligible for reimbursement or salary advancement. - Upon Approval, Complete this Teaching Channel Registration Form.

This step is important as South Portland requires teachers to submit invoices 4 weeks before the start of the course. And, Teaching Channel requires payment within 30 days of registering. - Earn Credits: Successfully complete the course with a B or better to qualify for salary advancement.
Important Note:
You must submit evidence of satisfactory completion of the course(s) which can be achieved by requesting an official graduate-level transcript from your selected university partner. Please submit to:
