Writing to Learn

Watch this 9th-grade English teacher use a low-stakes writing strategy to have students respond to a question and focus their attention on the content. Writing to learn allows students to write without risk of a grade or evaluation because the goal is simply generating a response to a question. Employ this practice to see the success, engagement, and empowerment it brings.

Reflection Question:
Why is it important that students participate in low-stakes writing?
