Using Phones to Record Small Group Discussions

Watch as Ms. Zapata gives directions to record audio of small group discussions so she can use the recording for future assessment. This way, she can capture everything students say and better understand where learners are in their learning. Notice how she sets limits for the use of phones and ties her instructions to the rubric so students clearly understand the expectations.

Reflection Question:
How might you use audio recordings to monitor and/or assess discussions?
