All educators recognize the importance of listening—it makes up 45 percent of communication! Listening is a learning and life skill that can be taught, practiced, and developed with some regular classroom routines—even games.
Watch this video of a kindergarten teacher who leads a listening game as part of their morning meeting called “Tootie-Tah” with her little learners to help them practice listening and following directions. From the sing-song rhyme patterns to the silly actions, this game gets everyone engaged in learning fun with movement and language. Even though listening is a serious active process, it can be practiced with a silly game at any age.
Reflection Question: What other advantages are there to using games such as the Tootie-Ta to promote overall learning? |
