Get Back to Me: Participation Strategy

Here’s a powerful participation strategy that empowers all students to respond when they are ready with an answer. Watch this teacher support second-grade students who haven’t quite figured out their answer by using intentional wait time and asking this question: Would you like me to get back to you?

All learners know they can ask for wait time with this cue: Please get back to me. This strategy allows students to keep thinking about the question — it builds confidence to keep participating and engaging in the future.
