Question Stems to Support Student Discussion

Teachers ask students hundreds of questions every day. While asking all these questions might seem simple, there’s an art to planning thoughtful, open-ended questions that engage students and inspire deeper thinking. Question stems are a great place to start if you’re looking to drive more discussion and student learning this year.

Keep these Question Stem cards on hand and fill in the blanks to get in the habit of asking better thought-provoking questions during your instructional time.
