Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Culture and Language

  • Course 5020: Teaching Students with Interrupted Formal Education: Compassion is Key
    (3 credits | K-12)
As our country’s demographics are changing, so are the needs of our students, and educators find themselves with students who are refugees, or who have otherwise limited formal education. Connecting research to practice, you’ll reflect on your current practices and ways you can provide a nurturing, motivating classroom and school environment to support students’ needs.

Special Populations

  • Course 806: Digital Citizenship in The Classroom
    (2 credits | K-12)
Learn about the essential elements of digital citizenship appropriate for classroom teachers, such as passwords and online security, appropriate online behavior and etiquette, digital footprints, and the power of social media to create change.

Early Childhood

  • Course 5057: Move, Grow, Play! Using Play to Teach and Learn
    (3 credits | PreK-2)
Did you know that students who are running and jumping are learning the laws of physics? That learning about surface tension involves blowing bubbles? This course will allow you to gather evidence that champions learning through play, and will return laughter, joy, and play to your classroom!

  • Course 5065: Vocabulary Instruction and Word Learning for Secondary Content Areas
    (3 credits | Gr. 6-12)
Word mastery and confidence is built from daily routines that engage students with new words in a classroom environment that promotes and practices word learning skills. You’ll review research to support vocabulary instruction using words carefully selected from existing curriculum and standards in any content area
