Validity: 3 years.
Renewal Limit: Unlimited.
Requirements:
Clock Hours: Completion of 75 approved clock hours of professional learning during each three-year period preceding the renewal application
Mandatory Requirements Include:
- Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies, Including: Accommodations, Modifications, Adaptation of Curriculum, Materials and Strategies
- Key Warning Signs for Early-Onset Mental Illness in Children and Adolescents
- Reading Preparation
- English Learners
- Cultural Competency
- American Indian History & Culture
Graduate Credit Pathway
Select from 1-, 2- and/or 3- semester credit Graduate-Level Courses to meet your 75 clock hours.
1 semester credit = 24 clock hours
2 semester credits = 48 clock hours
3 semester credits = 72 clock hours

If you are renewing both a teaching and administrative license, your administrative clock hours can be used towards your teaching renewal per MN BOSA. Teacher clock hours can not be used towards administrative renewal. Remember, it is ultimately your responsibility to ensure you’ve met the requirements for renewal of either or both licenses.

Taken as FLEX (not for credit) course = 15 clocks hours
2 graduate level, continuing education credits = 48 clock hours

Administrator License Renewal Specific to MN BOSA Approved Courses for Admin Clock Hours:
3 graduate level, continuing education credits = 60 clock hours
Taken as FLEX (not for credit) course = 45 clocks hours
All other MN BOSA-approved courses are hours-based, and completers are awarded clock hours on an hour-to-hour basis.
