Positive Reinforcement for Classroom Participation

Positive reinforcement encourages participation and on-task behaviors; it can be especially helpful with hard-to-reach students. Genuine praise and encouragement, coupled with tangible rewards such as stickers or small prizes, are great ways to provide students with continuous feedback. In challenging classrooms, keep students engaged with upbeat pacing, clear expectations, and generous reinforcement throughout the lesson. Over time, the consistency you provide will help you build positive relationships with your students and build their confidence!
