Annotate the Cover: What do you Notice?

Watch as students annotate a text cover to better understand the concepts presented and to make predictions about what they are about to read. Ms. Johnson encourages them with wait time and vocabulary reminders as needed. She also summarizes each learner’s contribution by aligning them to the skills students are learning like identifying key details and citing evidence from the text.

Reflection Question:
How can you use an annotation technique to reinforce the skills you’ve been teaching?
