Targeting Learning with Criteria for Success

When teachers set and share criteria for success, students understand what success looks like ahead of time, and they can refer back to the criteria during the lesson and learning activities. To ensure each student can access the criteria for success, teachers can provide metaphorical and visual supports. Above and beyond students working to meet the set criteria themselves are also asked to encourage and assist peers in meeting the criteria. This deepens student learning across the board.

Reflection Question:
How can you make criteria for success a more prominent practice in your classroom?
